The 2025 Music City Open proved to be a milestone moment for European disc golf, as athletes from Finland continued their rise on the international stage with commanding performances in both the MPO and FPO divisions. Held in Nashville, Tennessee, the event once again underscored the growing presence — and dominance — of European players on the Disc Golf Pro Tour.

Silva Saarinen: A Historic Performance, a Win in Waiting
Silva Saarinen’s weekend was nothing short of extraordinary. The young Finnish phenom averaged a blistering 1018-rated golf over three rounds, setting a new benchmark for the highest-rated FPO performance without a win — breaking the previous record held by Missy Gannon (1003-rated average at the 2023 PDGA Pro Worlds). Saarinen's consistency and poise throughout the weekend were undeniable as she posted back-to-back -7 rounds to co-lead heading into Sunday.
She even held the solo lead during the final round before falling into a playoff with fellow Finn Kristin Lätt. Although Lätt ultimately took the title with a birdie on the playoff hole, the Disc Golf Pro Tour themselves summed up the sentiment across the disc golf world: “It’s not a matter of IF, it’s a matter of WHEN Silva Saarinen will win a DGPT event on American soil.”
Kristin Lätt Makes It Three in a Row
Kristin Lätt proved again why she is a force to be reckoned with, capturing her third consecutive Music City Open victory. After a slow start to the final round, Lätt rebounded from a double bogey on hole 11 by birdieing six of the final seven holes — including a must-make birdie on 18 that forced the playoff. The composure and execution she displayed under pressure were a testament to her veteran experience and dominance, especially on this course.
Niklas Anttila Doubles Down in MPO
On the MPO side, Finland’s Niklas Anttila made headlines of his own by capturing back-to-back DGPT victories. After a scorching -11 second round vaulted him into contention, Anttila held steady through the final round’s chaos, outlasting Paul McBeth, Gannon Buhr, and Austin Turner in a tight battle down the stretch. A decisive birdie putt on hole 15, following a rare McBeth mistake, gave Anttila a two-stroke cushion which he rode to a -26 finish and the title.
With this win, Anttila joins a growing list of European players proving that the transatlantic gap in disc golf is narrowing fast.
European Disc Golf Is Here to Stay
With Saarinen’s record-setting weekend, Lätt’s continued dominance, and Anttila’s emergence as a top-tier threat, the 2025 Music City Open made one thing clear: European players are not just contenders — they are championship-caliber athletes capable of defining the narrative on disc golf’s biggest stages. As the tour continues, all eyes will be on when, not if, Silva Saarinen finally claims her long-awaited DGPT victory in the U.S.
