The Professional Disc Golf Association’s (PDGA) new Sponsor a Member program is making significant strides in bringing disc golf to new players around the world, with special attention to countries such as Ukraine. Launched in December 2024, the initiative allows PDGA members to sponsor an Amateur membership for a disc golf enthusiast in a low- or lower-income country for just $20.

The program was designed to foster the participation of over 500 new players annually, especially in regions where the cost of equipment and membership can be prohibitive. In less than four months, the program exceeded expectations: by the end of March 2025, 828 sponsorships had been purchased, and 232 codes redeemed.

Countries already benefiting include Ukraine, Uganda, Colombia, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Guatemala, Mongolia, Kenya, Mexico, Thailand, Cambodia, and Rwanda. In Europe, Ukraine stands out as a key beneficiary, highlighting the growing popularity and support for disc golf despite the country's ongoing challenges.

The PDGA’s broader international efforts, including the International and Marco Polo programs, further support this growth by helping local communities establish courses and organize events. In Ukraine, the backing of the global disc golf community is particularly meaningful, offering players new opportunities for recreation and competition during a difficult time.
