Italy has taken a major step in developing youth disc golf with the launch of its first junior-focused tournament series, Junior League 3B. Designed specifically for emerging players from the DiscGolf Barona team, the three-stage league is held on newly established courses in Busseto, Brescia, and Biella—marking a milestone for junior disc golf in the country.

This is the first structured junior series of its kind in Italy, aiming to provide young athletes with competitive experience and national visibility. Among the three participating players are Federico Dal Cin, the reigning Italian Junior Champion, and Giovanni Peccini, who will represent Italy at the 2025 European Junior Disc Golf Championship (EJDGC) in Langevåg, Norway. Italy’s participation in the EJDGC was made possible thanks to PDGA Europe, which granted the country a junior spot for the first time.

The series includes six official rounds:

  • Busseto, March 29: Round 1 and Round 2

  • Brescia, April 5: Round 3 and Round 4

  • Biella, April 27: Round 5 and Final Round

Another aim of the Junior League is to encourage players to develop new technical and strategic skills by practicing on unfamiliar courses and learning to adapt in new competitive environments.

The tournament is part of a broader effort by DG Barona Academy, an educational program based in Milan that has supported around fifteen junior players over the last four years. The Academy’s long-term vision is to build a pathway from grassroots participation to international competition for Italian youth.

By launching Junior League 3B, Italy signals its intention to grow disc golf from the ground up and create new opportunities for the next generation of players.
